The file contains applications made to the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , Bahrain, by local British and British Indian subjects, who were required by law to register as temporary or permanent residents of Bahrain. The file includes correspondence with individuals; businesses, such as the Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited (BAPCO) and the Eastern Bank Limited, about registering their British employees; and authorities such as the Bahrain State Police, who regularly processed applications for registration before forwarding them to the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. . Related matters are also discussed in the correspondence: fines for late or non-registration; validity of passports; British nationality and naturalisation claims; rules and instructions about the registration requirement for British subjects.

The file also includes: a request from Charles Dalrymple Belgrave (Adviser to the Government of Bahrain) for a birth certificate for his son, 1929 (folios 92-93); an annual return listing thirty-nine individuals who renewed or registered in Bahrain between 1929 and 1931 (folio 130); several letters in Arabic; black and white passport size photographs on forms and letters (folios 30, 31-97, 102, and 104); Persian [Iranian] postage stamps (folios 30-31); Indian and Iraqi revenue stamps (folios 82, 84, 91, and 104).
