The increase of 1,620 is chiefly due to the work of the Travelling Hospital Assistant ^

chief event of the year was the marriage of the NawdlTs eldest sister with Say^d Imam Hyder
Bux, hereditary custodian of the Shah Alum Roza at Ahmedabad.
2. The rainfall during the year was 27*72 inches and was equal to the average. The
season was a fair one, the average outturn of crops varying from 10 to 4 annas for rice and
wheat respectively.
3. Receipts increased from Rs, 88,451 to Rs. 1,01,610, while expenditure also advanced
from Rs. 84,181 to Rs. 1,24,547. 'The closing balance was Rs. 3,24,630.
4. Expenditure on public works amounted to R-s. 17,156.
5. The Police numbered 46 and cost Rs. 6,522. Twenty persons were sent for trial by
the Police, of whom 9 were convicted. Eighteen offences remained undetected. The value of
property stolen during the year was Rs. 2,305 ; of which Rs. 1,308 were recovered. There were
20 prisoners in the Jail during the year.
6. The three courts dealt with 122 persons, of whom 11 were convicted and 105 acquitted
or discharged.

8. Two hundred and twenty-four documents were presented, of which 223 were registered
against 201 last year.
9. The receipts and expenditure of the Savanur Municipality were respectively Rs. 5 ; 283
and Rs. 4,330. The closing balance was Rs. 1,815.
10. Births and deaths numbered 531 and 512, respectively, as against 508 and 1,257 last
year. Attacks of plague and deaths numbered 127 and 97 as against 964 and 784 last year,
Yaccinations numbered 505 as against 502. The Savanur dispensary treated 10,925 out-door
and 7 in-door patients at a cost of Rs. 1,431.
11. The number of schools remained at 11. The average daily attendance was 403outof
600 pupils on the rolls.
