31st March 1909. The Tranja Tank was not completely filled and the water m the Nagrama
Tank did not rise up to sill level. The Wangroli Tank was filled to F. S. L. (R. L. 102*00) and
tke tank bund and canals were maintained in good condition. There is scope for extension or
irrigation, as the water available cannot be utilized unless the. Right Bank Canal is extended
to where there is go ;d rice land under command. Ihe project for extending the canal has
accordingly been prepared, and will be submitted shortly.
The Savli Tank was in progress. Heavy rain fell continuously on the 6th and 7th July
water in the tank suddenly rose to It. L. 92*24, and a portion of the tank bund across the nulla
subsided at both ends; that is, at the junctions of the old and new work.
887 acres in the Kharif, and 513 acres in the Rabi season were irrigated during the year;
these figures are considered satisfactory, as they have been obtained in spite of the subsidence
of the tank dam, in the first year in which the tank and canal have been brought into operation.
Work on the construction of the Saiat tank was continued and good progress was made, The Salat Tank,
the expenditure being Rs. 31,600.
The Muwalia Tank was filled to F. S. L. (R. L. 139*00). The Right Bank Canal and the
distributaries were brought into good working order. The outlet at the head of the Left B^k
Canal was also completed. The land under command of the two canatS as far as constructed,
taurg restricted to 670 acres and the total irrigating capacity of the tank being considerably
^oiv, it is considered desirable to extend the Left Bank Canal to command .an. area o _ /'

The area irrigated was 76 acres in Kharif, and 313 acres in the Rabi season. The

Improvements to 18, and repairs to 51 small irrigation tanks in the Gujarat Irrigation 01d TanliS *
district, and repairs to 88 in the Surat and Broach District were executed during the year at a
mtal cost of R s . 36,700, and Rs. 75,515, on improvements and repairs, respectively.
Some further boring work in connection with the Mahi Canal Project was done in the trial Surveys and Projects,
