14. There was a slight increase in the number of offences reported of
whioh over 93 per cent, were returned as true. Considerably less than half of
these were under the Indian Penal Code and of these the largest number
amounting to over 13 per cent, of the total number of offences reported, were
cases of hurt m which only 7 per cent, of the persons accused were convicted.

Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. , providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India.
