Compared with the returns for 1908-1909 there is an increase under each head of Rs. 54,31,209
and Rs. 64,88,301 respectively. Rail-borne local trade amounted to Rs. 6,38,985 and foreign
trade to Rs. 2,94,928 in exports and Rs. 2,36,265 in imports.
13. There were 77,291 births and 47,877 deaths against 78,546 and 52,860 last Vital statistics,
year. The rates per mille were respectively 33-42 and 20-7. The deaths from plague were
1,390, a decrease of 1,286 on the figures for last year.

Surgeon. Seven thousand two hundred and eighty-five in-door and 740,796
out-door patients were treated in these institutions during the year at a cost of Rs. 2,93,845.
In the Rasulkhanji Hospital for women 218 in-patients and 1,842 out-patients were treated
during the year at a cost of Rs. 14,920. Yaeeinations and re-vaccinations number 83,581
against 81,088 last year. The total expenditure under this head was Rs. 31,686, an increase
of Rs. 10,955.
15. There was an increase of 48 schools and 5,264 pupils during the year. The total Education,
number of schools is 1,414 and of pupils 92,838 (boys 75,016, girls 17,822). The expenditure
on education was Rs. 9,18,100, a decrease of Rs. 1,581.
16. There were 41 Kumdrs on the roll of the College at the end of the year, an increase ftajkum&r College,
of 1. The receipts, including Government grant, amounted to Rs. 1,08,345 and the expendi
ture was Rs. 98,554 (including refund of advances). His Excellency presided at the meeting
of the College Council and also distributed prizes.
17. The number of paddocks is the same as last year. Horse-breeding is not reported Horse-breeding,
to be remunerative by any State.
18. There are 6 States of Class I to IV under Government management—4 on account Managed estates,
of minority of Chiefs and 2 on account of debt. Petty managed estates number *572.
Seventy-five were released from attachment and 3 newly taken under management.

Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. , providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. during the financial year 1909-10.
