8. The number of Civil Courts was 40. They disposed of 1,576 original suits, leaving in c 'vil justice,
rrears 183 against 239 in the previous year. The Appellate Courts disposed of 37 appeals,

10. The outlay under Public Works amounted to Rs. 1,85,542, of which Rs. 1,46,362
were spent by Idar. ^
11. The gross revenue of the Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. was Rs. 14,30,840 and the expenditure
Rs. 12 40,417. The gross revenue receipts of Idav excluding subordinate jagirs amounted to
Rs 5 77,503 against Rs. 5,74,239. Tiie total expenditure of the State amounted to Rs. 5,52,927
against Rs. 3,83,805 in the previous year.

13. Births and deaths numbered 10,594 and 7,083 compared with 10,523 and 6,603 in
the previous year. The mortality from plague was 448 compared with 297 in the previous
year.
14. In the 17 hospitals and dispensaries 74,413 patients were treated at a cost of
Rs. 25,058. There wer§ 11,739 vaccinations.
15. The total number of schools was 134, the number of pupils 6,598 and the cost of
maintenance Rs. 35,762 against 132 schools, 6,549 pupils and a cost of Rs. 35,937 in the
preceding year.
