The canal was opened on the 1 st June 1909, and worked satisfactorily. A revised
estimate for improving the distribution, and giving greater facilities for communication was
sanctioned during the year. The masonry outlets, that were under construction in the previou
year, were completed during the year under report.
NAra Supply Channel. Ag the heavy Ghotki floods of the inundation of 1908 crossed the Nara Supply Channel
at several places, between miles 7 and 12 , the banks were raised 2 feet above the high flood
level of 1908 and strengthened. The work was commenced.during 1908-1909 and com
during the year at a total cost of Rs. 21,302. " ^
The canal was opened on the 1st June 1909, and for the year under report experienced
a really good season, and had a sufficient supply until the river fell, suddenly, in September.
The tail of the main canal received a much better supply than in former years, owino 1 to
its clearance in the cold weather. All branches, and the Uch Rajwah especially, worked
exceedingly well. A modified form of the Chenab pattern sluice was used on. the Toi Raiwah
and the hall Rajwah and their branches, for the first time, and proved a success. The canal
system, on the whoJe, received a fair rabi supply; but, the sudden fall of the river in the
middle of September was responsible for less than the usual rabi area on the branch canals
above the 19th and 27th miles.
This canal was fed direct from the river and received an excellent supply throughout
the season ; in the Nasir branch only the supply was somewhat deficient. This cannot be
lemedied until some distributaries are constructed at mile 24. The two distributaries, the
Khanrowah ex mile 8/2 and the Hazarowah ex mile 13/1, were opened for the first time. The
