11. Tramways.
The route miles of the Bombay Electric Tramways Company remained 20 - 38 as in the
preceding year, while the number of passengers carried increased from 30,486,666 to 32,210/~
The Matheran Steam Light Tramway carried 20,448 passengers against 19,186 in the
.ram way
period. The number of passengers carried by the Karachi Tramway increased from
3,488,112 to 3,848,594. The length of the track was seven miles. The extension of the
line within the cantonment limits has been sanctioned and the work will be taken in hand
at an early date. On the N4sik Tramway 241,233 passengers were carried, 4,507 less than
in the preceding year. The substitution of steam for horse traction has not yet been effected.
In Kaira District there is a project for a steam tramway between Nadi^d and Kaira and in
the Panch Mahals a light tramway is under construction from Champaner Road Station
to Shivrajpur.

Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. , providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. during the financial year 1909-10.
The report is divided into two parts. Part I contains a report ‘SUMMARY’ (ff 139-153). Part II (ff 154-208) is comprised of chapters I-IX.
Part II is divided into the following chapters, some of which are further divided into sub-headings:
