6 . The issue of opium from Government depots amounted to 20,178 lbs. compared with n •
20,529 lbs. in the preceding year, and the amount realized thereon was Rs. 2 , 75,603 against Pmm
Rs. 2 , 55,760 in 1909 - 1910 . The total consumption was 20,630 lbs. compared with 20,155 lbs.
in the previous year. The consumption per head was -23 tolas according to the census ficmres
of 1911 . The total excise opium revenue decreased from Rs. 1 , 68,622 in the preceding ye^ar to
Rs. 1,68,449 i n year under report. & J
7 . During the year 84 cases under the A'bkari laws (17 relating to liquor and 67 to
intoxicating drugs) and 11 under the Opium Act were sent up for trial, and these cases resulted ces -
in 75 and 10 convictions respectively. There was a decrease of 13 ATkari and 9 opium cases
compared with the previous year.
8 . The total expenditure for the year amounted to Rs. 39,569 against Rs. 57,108 in the E Tt

9 . The local advisory committees at Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur were consulted Local committe«
in 22 cases, in 13 of which their recommendations were carried out involving the withdrawal
of four licenses.
3 .—Aden.
The gross receipts amounted to Rs. 1 , 23,701 against Rs. 1 , 08,677 in the previous year.
The increase of Rs. 15,024 is due to the enhanced duty levied on imported foreign liquors
and wines.. Establishment and other charges amounted to Rs. 10,585 against Rs. 10,598 in
the preceding year. There was one offence against the ATkari law. The gross receipts on
account of opium fell from Rs. 2,575 to Rs. 2 , 158 .

Annual administration report of the Bombay Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. , providing a summary record of the main events and developments in each department of the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India.
