495. The general health of the Civil population

siderable increase in the total number treated at the
Civil Hospital.
496. The total number was 6,893— an increase of 394 over the previous
Admissions year. Of this large number 1,242 were in-door and 5,631
out-door patients classified as under :—

Diseases. 497. The principal causes of admission were
Malarial fevers, ulcers, diseases of digestive organs, local injuries, skin
diseases, diseases of respiratory system, eye, &c., &c.
Mortality. 498. Ninety-six deaths, being 22 less than in the
previous year.
Operations. 499. These reached the very high figure of
1,293 129 major and the rest minor.
500. There was a large increase for the year : total operations 1,811, of
Vaccination. which 1,367 were successful, compared with 1,324, of

501. The Civil Hospital continues to be a most successful and useful
