I have the honour to submit the Administration Report of the Settlement
of Aden for the year ending with the 31st March 1914

The RJ.M.S. “Dalhousie” performed the station duties under my orders from
the 1st April to the 15th May 1913, from 21st August to 11th January 1914
and again from the 5th February 1914 to 31st March 1914. There was no
ship on the station during the intervening periods.
CHAPTER II.
General and Political.
L The Settlement of Aden comprises the following divisions: =(1) the
peninsula and isthmus or Aden proper, which has an

36,876 souls; (2) Sheikh Othman inclusive of Imad and Hiswa, which has an
area of 39 square miles and a population of 7,656 souls; (3) Little Adea, with
15 square miles and 334 population and (4) the Island of Perim, with 5 sc l^ a ^
miles and 1,299 population. The total area of the Settlement is about 80
square miles with a population of 46,165 souls. The gross revenue of t e
Settlement based on the average receipts of the Aden Ireasury during t e pas
five years, is Rs, 55,47,415.
2. For legal purposes Aden forms part of British India^ and is under the
control of the Governor of Bombay m Council It is
