21. There were 802 applications for the recovery of Rs. 1,01,481 of which
2 remained undisposed of at the end ofvpa*.
Execution °f ecrees. 291 warrants were issued against property for the
recovery of Rs. 57,487, of which Rs. 21,649 were recovered ; 451 were issued
for the recovery ot Rs. 36,176 by arrest and imprisonment of judgment-
debtors, of which Rs. 8,936 were recovered. Sixty persons were committed t
the jail for non-payment of Rs. 7,817.
22. There were 5 appeals during the year in
Appeals. , two of which the judgments of the lower Court
were upheld.
23. ^ There were 10 applications for revision, in
all of which the judgments of the lower Court were
upheld.
21. Fifty-three estates of deceased persons
and of minors were under the administration of the
Court. There are at present 47 wards.
25. Twenty-four certificates of heirship were
issued during the year.
26. Court receipts amounted to Rs. 38,817 and
Receipts and expenditure. expenditure to Rs. 14,769 against Rs. 23,922 and
Rs. 13,458 respectively in the preceding year.
27. Two hundred and thirty-four male and 14 female prisoners were in
Prisons the jail as compared with 251 males and 15 females
in the preceding year. The d^ily average number
of prisoners was 43*5 males and 1*2 females. The cost of the establishment,
maintenance of prisoners, etc., amounted to Rs. 11,802 against Rs. 12,452 in
1913-1914. Rs. 5,831 were realized by the sale of the articles manufactured
in the Jail against Rs. 5,204 in the preceding year. The health of the
prisoners was good. No female prisoner was admitted in the prison hospital
during the year. No deaths occurred during the year. Sixteen prisoners
were released on the remission mark system. No prisoners escaped from
custody.

28. Seventy Turkish prisoners of war were admitted into the Jail by
orders of the General Officer Commanding for safe custody. Of these, 7 were
deported, 49 released, the balance at the end of the year being 14.
29. The number of documents registered during the year was 351 and
Registration va l ue ^ s - 6,12,079 as compared with 392 and
Rs. 9,87,446 respectively during the preceding year.
The decrease in number and value is in deeds of sale and other documents.
The year's receipts aud expenditure amounted to Rs. 2,323 and Rs. 1,631 as
compared with Rs. 2,998 and Rs. 1,754 respectively in the preceding
year.
30. Thirty bills of exchange (including 3 Promissory Notes) were presented
for protest. The fees received on this account amounted to Rs. 176.
81. Four births and one death were registered. No marriage was
registered under Act XY of 1865 and under Act III of 1872.
32. Nine documents were impounded on the ground of insufficiency of
stamp and the deficiency recovered.
33. The Executive Committee of the Aden
Municipal Administration. Settlement performs all the duties which munici
palities perform in India.
Their proceedings are regulated by the Aden Settlement Regulation YII
cl 1900 and rules framed thereunder, and are subject to the control of the
esident. The income and the expenditure of the Settlement Fund amounted
