This part of the volume consists of copies of enclosures to a secret despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. , Number 50 of 1856, dated 8 October 1856. The enclosures are numbered 3-5 and are dated 18 September to 1 October 1856.

They consist of correspondence between the Government of India Foreign Department, the Chief Commissioner of the Punjab and Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. , regarding matters including the change of route by which arms and ammunition are to be sent to Kandahar being communicated to Dost Mahomed Khan [Dūst Muḥammad Khān Bārakzāy], and specie [money in the form of coins] being sent with flint muskets via the Bolan Pass to Peshawur [Peshawar] for Dost Mahomed Khan.
