I shall be sjad of a very early reply to my telegram in the Military
Department, dated 10th December last. Imperial Service Troops, Coronation.

Foreign. Secret. Koweit. My telegram of the 24th December. The
lorte denied 28th December prohibition of export of provisions and stated that
ne Ainir had left for Nejd. O’Conor however learnt prohibition was issued by
Vali but has since been rescinded. With reference to your telegram of 28th
December O Conor has again made representation to Porte as to the proceedings
of yah and the Amir. Further, Lord Lansdowne has warned the Turkish
Ambassador that if the Porte is unable to control its own officials we may find it
impossible to acquiesce m the continuation of status quo which leads to the re
currence of incidents such as the recent visit of Nakib to Koweit
