'Foreign. Secret. Guthrie’s ammunition. Your telegram of September
19th. The War Office state that both Mark IV and Mark V-303 ammunition
contravene the Resolution signed by majority of the Hague Conference but
not by the British representative. Ammunition of this type was nevertheless
not used by British troops in China, and South Africa, and the general question
of adherence in principle to the Resolution of the Hague Convention in respect
of expanding bullets, is still under the consideration of the War Office. You
can prohibit the import of ammunition of this mark, but if you do so, you
will have to modify the instructions under paragraph 4 of my Military
Despatch No. 96, of the 16th August 1901.

. Foreign. Secret. Delimitation of Aden Boundary. Telegram from the
Resident at Aden of the October 10th. 1 agree with the Resident that we
should n6t move up troops to occupy the territories which we claim on behalf
ot the Amir of Dthali. But it might be expedient to undertake preliminary
measures by warning some troops in India for service, and bv authorising the
necessary equipment to be provided at Aden for a column of *500 men. Lord
ans owne concurs. If you agree, please take the necessary measures and
mtorm the Bombay Government and the Resident at Aden.
