that object of making addition to strength of escort with British Commission

The Post Master General is considering the following questions :—
First .— Should notice to determine the mail contract be given in January
next under clause 37 ?
Second .—If not, should Steamship Company be offered continuance for
a definite period, say 3 years, if they undertake improvements or should Post
Master General leave matters alone retaining his freedom to give notice at
any time ?
Mr. Chamberlain doubts whether the present time is favourable for new
contract for a long period. Please let me have your opinion by telegraph.

Honours. A Civil Honorary G. C. B. has been
approved by the King for the Nizam; also eight Knighthoods including Mr.
Godsell. His Majesty desires that you should invest the Nizam: the Warrant
to empower you to do so is being prepared accordingly. The G. C. B. insignia
will be despatched to your Foreign Secretary by the mail of December 5th.
His Majesty further desires that the Viceroy should be empowered to dub
Knights Bachelors outside the Indian Orders: a Warrant will be prepared
giving effect to the King’s wish, which will enable you to confer Knighthoods
on the seven Knights now approved. The King also commands that the Duke
of Connaught is to have power to knight and invest, should opportunity arise,
apart from the
