Private. Your private telegram of 17th February. We will give services
of James, Moore, and Smith, but must cut out three of the six Remount
Officers promised in our Military Department telegram 457$ of 14th.

See your telegram dated 2nd May 1901. The late Amir’s Agent did not
go to Germany to fetch the Krupp guns as they were not ready. Habibulla
now writes that guns are finished, and asks for fresh letters of introduction
for tw r o Agents whom he proposes to send to Germany. I propose, with your
approval, to grant the letters, the guns having been ordered by late Amir and
their importation having been sanctioned by us. Question of armaments,
which I desire to discuss with Habibulla, is not in my opinion raised by present
case.

This volume comprises printed copies of telegraphic correspondence, dated 1 January-31 December 1902, of Lord Curzon of Kedleston, Viceroy and Governor-General of India, with Lord George Hamilton, Secretary of State for India.

Arrangement

The telegrams are arranged in chronological order from the front to the rear of each of the two sections of the volume, which are divided by a folio of blue card. Each telegram is numbered, and the index on folios 4-15 gives the numbers of the telegrams which correspond to each name, place or subject listed in the index.

Physical characteristics

Foliation: the foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the first folio with 1 and terminates at the last folio with 198; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. side of each folio. The foliation sequence does not include the front and back covers, nor does it include the leading and ending flyleaves.
