Sir Charles Wilson is not inclined to agree with Mr. Gray Hill’s suggestion (see
Journal for November, p. 555) that the bed of the Dead sea is being raised by volcanic
agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. . He shows that all the variations of level may be explained by the fluctuation
of the rainfall.
