Letter regarding the current situation in Muskat [Muscat] giving updates on Sayyid Torkee [Said bin Turki]'s movements and actions as well as those of Bethi? bin Saif, the Batineh [Batina] and Thoweynee bin Muhammed [Thuwaini bin Muhammad]. The letter also discusses the lack of money in Muskat and Oman and the benefits of money being forthcoming may have to the area.

The letter also discusses the movements of the magpie , under Captain Doughty and also of the Constance whose Captain, Mr Gaddesdon, had departed on medical leave.

The letter concludes with Ross giving his favourable opinion of Newcome James Edwards who has arrived to work as a clerk in Muskat; a telegram he has received from Sir William Merewether; and his departure for Gwadur where he will await instructions from Pelly.
