tions. I pray to God to help us against his hostile inten
tions and to help against oppressors, certain intriguers and
movements for which there is not room, Mhen inhabitants of
(Nejd?) I heard they were (words undecypherable)* on account
of inferioxity or fear, out on the contrary as a precaution
againso theii previous and recent deeds, I am warning raidii
and now matters have reached their extreme. When the British
Government was engaged in time of war, we had left matters and
given up many of our rights, out now I cannot excuse the Brit
ish Government. If Sherrif is obedient to the orders of your

Government and follows them, then I am prepared to entrust
settlement of the dispute between us to you under the necessary
right which was as clear as the sun* So I hope that you will
settle by arbitration between us with pre-emptive rights* If
he is the aggressor, you can stop him* If I am the aggressor,
you can stop me, and place the responsibility on whoever acts

you is two things; firstly, God willing, I am guarding myself
