A spring near the Tahlab river about 30 miles south-east of Mirjavva
on the road to Mashkel.

A well in the Tahlab nala which is an affluent of the Gat-i-Barote.

About 5 miles north of Chagai.
TALARAN RIVER—
Rising south of Koh-i-Kahi mountain flows south-east into the Lora
Hamun passing about 2 miles south of Chagai.

A village about 5 miles west by north of Chagai.

About 3 miles east of Umar Shah Nawar in the Nushki district.

A sub-section of the Sinjaranis (y. v.) who are a section of the Rind tribe
of Baluchis, They are scattered oyer the Chagai and Western Sinjarani
districts The origin of the Taoki tribe is not known. It is possible that
thev are the descendants of earlier members of the Sinjarani family prior
to fan Beg. \McMahon.)
T here are about four hundred families of Taoki scattered over Dalban-
din, Koh Pusht, etc. ; they mostly cultivate their rain watered lands, and
though they possess some bullocks they principally plough with camels,
of which they possess of all kinds about one thousand ; they have bet-
ween five thousand and six thousand sheep, and give the chief one sheep
per flock, besides military service. {Duke.}

A few very small springs in the Shemidar wa/a 7 miles upstream from
Kila Robat; here the nala, which has been flowing east, bends with a sharp
turn to tlie north, and a well-marked caravan track from Hurmak, d.s-
tant 10 miles, to Ladis, enters the nala down the left bank. 1 he spot is
marked by a large patch ai shora on the right bank and a patch of
lesser extent on the left bank. Little water was exuding from the
.springs in .899, but the natives say that sometimes there is an abundant
supply here.

A report, marked as secret, on the area of Nushki, Chagai, and Western Sinjarani. The report was compiled in the Intelligence Branch, Quarter Master General's Department. The report was commenced in 1897 by Captain R E Roome, 6th Bombay Cavalry (Jacob's Horse), and revised and completed by Major W C Walton, 104th Wellesley's Rifles, Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General in 1903. It was printed at the Government Central Printing Office, Simla, in 1904.
The report includes a preface by Colonel John E Nixon, Assistant Quarter Master General, Intelligence Branch (folio 5) and a glossary of vernacular terms used (folio 6). The main body of the report contains chapters on geography, communications, fortified posts and forts, climate, sanitation, resources, ethnography, history, administration, and military strength.
The second part of the report includes a gazetteer of topographical and ethnographic information (folios 36-127) and appendices covering wells, canals, and meteorology, and including a report on the signalling stations of the Dalbandin-Robat line, with sketches (folios 131-147).
