SURIvHAB WELL.—Lat 2g° 24'; Long, ^5° 59'; E!ev.
About 5 miles south by west of Baghak on the Nushki-Kharan road.
SUTO—Elev. 4,290'.
Is situated at the junction of Duzdap ua/'a, which flows alon<* the western
edge of the Duzdap plain with the Ziarat Rod which flows along the north
ern edge of this plain. Here there is good and sweet water in abundance
running both in the Duzdap na/a and the Ziarat Rod ; there is also good
water issuing from small springs about a quarter of a mile up the Duzdap
nala. I here is a thick growth of tamarisk bushes and there is coarse
dab grass in abundance. Judging by the marks on the ground this
spot is used as a spring and summer settlement by nomad Baluchis.
A good camping-ground would be found in the Ziarat Rod and a small
quantity of supplies such as goats, sheep, wheat and bhusa could be
obtained from Duzdap, about 3 miles distant. The camel-grazing around
is good and abundant. (Roome.)

A halting-place on the road from Nushki to Kharan, 16 miles from
Baghak, 24 from Nushki, and 13 to Patkin. Water-supply from shabow
wells (7 feet to the water) in the bed of a nala. Here is a camping-
ground only. Forage scanty. [XVahab.)
TA GAZ KAND RIVER—

approaches the Hamun.
TAGHAZ—
A village on the right bank of the Helmand opposite the Koh-i- Khan
Nashin consisting of some 900 Sadozais. It possesses some 600 cattle,
1,200 sheep and goats, 30 horses, 30 camels and 30 ploughs, each plough
producing on an average 25 kharwars. The present Khan is Umar
Khan \Wanhss, February 1903.)
TAHLAB RIVER—
Is a continuation south-eastwards of the Mirjawa river la v)
rhe Jitter changeqts_DM.e to Tahlab after passing Node,'41 miles
south of M.rjawa, and is known as such until it enters the Hantun-i-
Mashkel.
Phis river flows into the hamun through a wide delta which is usually
dry, but the water is close to the surface and at times there is a good deal
ot water in the 1 ahlab river, but it is unfit for use
The Tahlab marks the Perso-Baluch boundary 'of 1896. The country
passed through by this river is not particularly sandy and is certainly
not a desert. Along its banks there is an extensi ve tamarisk jungle r

At Nodo there is a spring of which the water is distinctly brackish. Bet
ween Nodo and Mirjawa, 41 miles, there is no water, but a well sunk at
Reg-i-Malik, an intermediary locality, might produce water. In the
