This file contains applications for import/export licenses and shipping space that were sent to the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain by a number of merchants active in the country. The applications relate to machinery and car parts from various suppliers in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The file also contains related correspondence between the External Affairs of the Government of India, the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. and the Government of Bahrain Customs Department.

The file contains one letter in Arabic sent from the ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Salmān bin Ḥamad Āl Khalīfah to the Bahraini merchant, Khalil Ebrahim Kanoo (folio 58).
