Memorandum on Persian Telegraph Lines

Content

The memorandum consists of eight entries on various telegraph lines running through Persia. Each entry outlines who is responsible for it (if anyone), and provides a brief overview of its development and its current status. The lines included are as follows:

• the Mekran [Makran] line;
• the Bushire-Tehran-Khanikin [Khānaqīn] line;
• the Central Persian line;
• the Arabistan lines;
• the Indo-European Telegraph line from England to Tehran (via Germany and Russia);
• the Hamadan-Kazvin [Qazvin] line;
• the Bunder Abbas [Bandar-e ʻAbbās]-Kerman line;
• the Tehran-Meshed [Mashhad] line;
• the Meshed-Birjand-Seistan [Sīstān] line.
