Journal of the voyages of the East India Company ships Hopewell and Star , recorded by Abraham Sayers. An inscription states that Sayers made the outward journey on board the Hopewell and returned homeward on the Star .
The Hopewell departed Gravesend on 24 February 1627. The journal covers visits to a number of destinations including the following (dates are those of arrival): 10 July 1627, Cape [of Good Hope]; 10 September 1627, Mohele [Mohéli]; 30 November 1627, Swallo Road [Suvāli, also written as Swallow Road]; 17 March 1627 [New Style date 17 March 1628], Dabull [Dabhol]; 27 May 1628, Morrossos [Mauritius]; 30 September 1628, Swallo Road; 12 March 1628 [New Style date 12 March 1629], Soldany Bay [Saldanha, South Africa]; 15 April 1629, Santalena [St Helena]; 5 July 1629, the Downes [Downs].
