The file consists of summaries of official secret despatches from the Government of India, the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. , and British diplomatic and consular representatives to Persia, relating to Afghanistan, Nepal, Kelat, Herat, Aden, Kashmir, Muscat, Pegu, Turkey, and Kabul. Topics include the Slave Trade in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , Dost Muhammad [Dost Mohammad Khan, Amir of Afghanistan], a treaty with Dost Muhammad, and the Anglo-Persian War (1856-1857).
