This item consists of copies of correspondence, minutes, and consultations, cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. . It is the tenth in a series of eleven items about the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. (the others are IOR/F/4/2050/93533, 93534, 93535, 93536, 93537, 93538, 93539, 93540, 93541, and 93543). The principal correspondents are the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. and Captain Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .

The item concerns:

• A dispute between Muktoom bin Butye [Shaikh Maktūm I bin Buṭṭī Āl Bū Falāseh of Dubai] and Suggur bin Sultan [Shaikh Ṣaqr bin Sulṭān al-Qāsimī One of the ruling families of the United Arab Emirates; also used to refer to a confederation of seafaring Arabs led by the Qāsimī tribe from Ras al Khaima. of Sharjah]
• The movements and intentions of Ameer Fysul [Amīr Fayṣal bin Turki bin ‘Abdullāh Āl Sa‘ūd]
• Re-appointing a Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. at Lingah [Bandar-e-Lengeh]
• The arrival at Bushire [Būshehr] of Abdullah bin Ahmed [Shaikh ‘Abdullāh bin Aḥmad Āl Khalīfah] and the fortification of Bushire
• A report from Commander James FitzJames of Her Majesty’s Sloop Clio stating: his opinion of the wreck of the Mary Mullaby [ Mary Mallaby ]; the story of a woman supposedly detained at Kishm [Qeshm]; and the case of five Indian subjects at Muscat
• The arrival of the Governor-General of Mozambique [Rodrigo Luciano de Abreu e Lima] at Zanzibar.
