This volume contains:

  • Accounts of goods received on board the East India Company ship Loyall Cook [usually written as Loyal Cooke ], including East India Company goods, goods for the Captain and members of the crew, goods for the Supercargoes, stores of food and drink for the crew, Carpenter’s stores, Boatswain’s stores, and Gunner’s stores
  • A list of men (crew) on board the ship, with columns listing their names, ‘quallificacons’ (positions), ages, and country (nationalities)
  • A list of places where the ship moored by date, which also records wind directions and weather conditions by date, between November 1708 and 4 March 1709.

The volume includes the inscriptions ‘No838’ and ‘Moses Baker, Wailer [?]. 9br.[November] 8: 1708’ (on folio 4 verso The back of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'v'. ).

Physical characteristics

Foliation: the foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the inside front cover with 1, and terminates at the inside back cover with 23; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto The front of a sheet of paper or leaf, often abbreviated to 'r'. side of each folio. An additional foliation sequence is present in parallel between ff 5-16; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled.
