Letter quoting an extract from Mr Chening 'thanking him for his admirable work and that he hopes he does the book justice in the columns of The Times and expressing his pleasure at these words.
Pelly goes on to ask Birdwood [George Christopher Molesworth Birdwood] to show the letter to Wollaston, and Wollaston subsequently adds an annotation to the letter expressing his delight at the extract.
The letter is undated but is most likely from May or June 1879 based on the dates of the rest of the correspondence in the file.
