Draft and Official copies of a confidential letter reporting on his conversation with the Maharaja of Scindhia (Jayajirao Sindhia) following receipt of the telegram from the Viceroy (folio 11).

The letter reports on the Maharaja's response that he still deeply regretted the scandal that was attached to the enquiry; his feeling that all the objectives of the Commission could be obtained if the Gaekwar (Malharrao) was persuaded to abdicate; and his concerns over the inconvenience that could be caused should the charges against the Gaekwar not be proven.
