above to Your Excellency and to say that His Majesty's Government approve that
Mr. Skinner should act as Chief Local Representative vice Major Holmes, whose
resignation has been accepted.

SUPPLEMENTARY AGREEMENT between His Excellency Shaikh Hamad Bin
Shaikh 'Isa Al Kiialifaii , Shaikh of Bahrein, C .S .I. , acting on the advice of the
Honourable the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and The Bahrein
Petroleum Company Limited WITNESSES that:—
1. The Prospecting License granted by the Concession Agreement as extended by
the Supplementary Agreement dated the Thirteenth day of December One thousand
nine hundred and thirty-two shall be and the same is hereby extended for and during
the further period of thirteen months from the Second day of December One thousand
nine hundred and thirty-three.
2. The Bahrein Petroleum Company Limited shall make to His Excellency Shaikh
Hamad the following payments and advance that is to say:—
(a) For the Private Purse of His Excellency Shaikh Hamad a payment of Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf.
Twelve thousand (Rs. 12,000) not later than fourteen (14) days from the
date of this Agreement and thereafter thirteen (13) equal monthly
payments each of Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. One thousand (Rs. 1,000). The first of Such
monthly payments shall be made one month from the date of payment of
the said Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Twelve thousand (Rs. 12,000). The remaining thirteen
(13) monthly payments each of Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. one thousand (Rs. 1,000) shall be
made on the same day of each succeeding month.
(h) For the Public Purse of His Excellency Shaikh Hamad an amount of Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf.
Seventy-five thousand (Rs. 75,000) in thirteen (13) monthly instalments
the first of which Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Five thousand seven hundred and seventy-two
(Rs. 5,772) shall be paid not later than fourteen (14) days from the date
of this Agreement. The Twelve (12) remaining equal monthly payments
each of Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Five thousand seven hundred and sixty-nine (Rs. 5,769)
shall be made on the same day of each succeeding month. Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Twenty-
five thousand (Rs. 25,000) of this amount shall be non-recoverable but
the remaining Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Fifty thousand (Rs. 50,000) shall be an advance
provided that such advance shall be repaid to the Bahrein Petroleum
Company Limited as follows namely :—
If and when the royalty due to His Excellency Shaikh Hamad for
any one year exceeds Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Sixty thousand (Rs. 60,000) the Bahrein
Petroleum Company Limited shall deduct and retain or otherwise
provide for an amount up to one-fourth of such excess for every such
year in repayment without interest of such advance of Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Fifty
thousand (Rs. 50,000) until the whole of such advance without interest
shall have been repaid.
5. Furthermore the Bahrein Petroleum Company Limited guarantee that His
Excellency Shaikh Hamad will receive not less than Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Thirty thousand
(Rs. 30,000) for any one year beginning with the year One thousand nine hundred
and thirty-four Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Ten thousand (Rs. 10,000) of which will be the regular
annual rental and the remaining Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Twenty thousand (Rs. 20,000) if not covered
by royalties due and payable under the terms of the Concession Agreement of the
Second day of December One thousand nine hundred and twenty-five or any part
thereof not covered by such royalties, will be paid to His Lxcellency Shaikh Hamad
not later than one month after the end of the year One thousand nine hundred and
thirty-four and each succeeding year it being thoroughly understood that the

Printed copy of the Bahrain (spelt Bahrein throughout) oil concession, signed by Shaikh Hamad bin Shaikh Issa Al Khalifah [Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah] and the Eastern and General Syndicate Limited in 1925, with revisions in 1934. The agreement is marked ‘India Office’ in print on the front cover, with the addition in pencil: ‘Last spare copy’. The agreement comprises ten articles, numbered with Roman numerals I-X, and three schedules. Copies of additional materials follow the concession agreement, as follows:
