within the meaning of Articles IX and X of the Third Schedule to the Concession

4. Should application not be made by the Bahrein Petroleum Company Limited
to His Excellency Shaikh Hamad to take up the Lease prior to the Second day of
December One thousand nine hundred and thirty-four the Bahrein Petroleum
Company Limited shall pay to His Excellency Shaikh Hamad one-twekh part of
Rupees Indian silver coin also widely used in the Persian Gulf. Ten thousand (Rs. 10,000) as for the period Third December One thousand
nine hundred and thirty-four to Second January One thousand nine hundred and
thirty-five.

Printed copy of the Bahrain (spelt Bahrein throughout) oil concession, signed by Shaikh Hamad bin Shaikh Issa Al Khalifah [Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah] and the Eastern and General Syndicate Limited in 1925, with revisions in 1934. The agreement is marked ‘India Office’ in print on the front cover, with the addition in pencil: ‘Last spare copy’. The agreement comprises ten articles, numbered with Roman numerals I-X, and three schedules. Copies of additional materials follow the concession agreement, as follows:
