Letter, regarding attempts to secure Faiz Ali's services for Kotale [Kotali], rumours he is accompanying the Maharaja of Jeypoor [Jaipur] to Simla and the possibility of his returning to Jaipur as minister.

The letter goes on to discuss a dispute between Pelly and the Department of Public Works, which was caused by a former secretary in the Department; Aitchison's bemusement that the position of Agent to the Governor General, held by Pelly, should need a secretary within the Department of Public Works and yet Pelly signs all political department letters himself; and the problems being caused by the secretary not referring letters to the appropriate offices and departments.
