Letter regarding questions that Pelly had asked about a case involving Captain Smith, and informing him that the Adjutant General had referred the matter to His Excellency the Commander in Chief.

The case related to information that was included in the officers' statement of service; which included any occasions that the officers' conduct was subject to a court of enquiry, even if the court had acquitted the officer and the reporting the Commander in Chief's decision that this custom needed to be stopped.

The letter also informs Pelly that in the case of Captain Smith the course decided upon by the Army should be followed.
