Letter regarding the arrival in Edinburgh; the journey from Rotterdam; and their intention of going off on travels to visit friends. The letter also informs Pelly that he expects to be in London on 10 September and will be staying in the Charing Cross Hotel and gives dining arrangements for that evening depending on whether his wife comes with him or not.
The letter goes on to mention affairs he wishes to discuss with Pelly including the news that he has been offered the Chief Commissionership of Assam and asks for Pelly's confidential advice on whether to accept the offer or not.
