The letter is a covering letter, containing an extract of paragraph 32 of despatch no.16 of 1857 (folio 110), dated 11 February 1857. The extract states that Commander Jones’s attempt at mediation between Shaikh Soultan bin Suggur [Sultan bin Saqr] of Ra’s al-Khaymah and the tribes of Humreya [Ḩamrīyah] was judicious and hopefully successful.
