- Content
The letter is an acknowledgement of receipt of Jones’s earlier letter, relating to a complaint made by Shaikh Sultan bin Saqr, chief of Russul-Khyma [Ra’s al-Khaymah], about his treatment by British officials in relation to the slave trade. Anderson writes that the Government approves of the general tenor of Jones’s reply to Shaikh Sultan, but finds great objection to some of the expressions Jones uses, citing his phrase “the fine creed of the Wahabee [ Wahhābī A follower of the Islamic reform movement known as Wahhabism; also used to refer to the people and territories ruled by the Al-Saud family. ] race” as an example.
