Treatise by Ibn al-Haytham ( ابن الهيثم, 965-1039) on one of the propositions of the Banū Mūsá (بنو موسى, fl. 9th century) on the proofs in the Conics (Κωνικά; كتاب المخروطات) by Apollonius of Perga (Ἀπολλώνιος; أبلونيوس; fl ca 200 BC).

The treatise contains eight diagrams.

Begins (fol. 22v, lines 3-5):

إن أحد الأشكال التي قدمها بنو موسى لبراهين كتاب المخروطات وهو الشكل الأخير من مقدماتهم

هو على غير الصفة التي وصفوه بها وذلك أنهم جعلوه كليًا وهو جزئي ومع ذلك

فقد لحقهم سهو في البرهان عليه ...

Ends (ff. 32r, line 12-32v, line 1):

... وليس يستعمل في المخروطات شيء من الأقسام المنتقصة فقد تبيّن من جميع

ما بيّناه أنّ القضية التي حكم بها بنو موسى في هذين المثلثين ليست قضية كلية أعني

أنّها يصح في بعض أقسام هذين المثلثين و يبطل في بعض أقسامها (fol. 32v)
