The letter is a covering letter, relating to the recovery of fines imposed upon the chiefs of Charrack [Bandar-e Chārak], Khelat [Kelat] and Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh] for the import and sale of slaves in their territories. Enclosed with the letter is an extract of paragraph 4 of despatch no.30 of 1855 (folio 176) from the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. , dated 19 December 1855, which notes the improper conduct of Lieutenant Crane towards Shaikh Hoosein bin Abdoolla [Ḥusayn bin ‘Abdullāh] on his visit on board a British vessel.
