About this record

Content

Letter regarding difficulties with communications into and out of Bahrein owing to the lack of native boats and the Vulture having called at Ras el Head [Ras-al Had] instead.

The letter also discusses Mr Alwan, who has been detained by the Sheikh as he is a Bahrainee [Bahraini], and Grant's observation that he is justified in doing so and expressing his hopes that the next mail will be instructions on why Mr Alwan was to be detained and what to do with him.

The letter also reports that the hot weather has brought illness with it; the difficulties being caused by the Lynn not having a doctor and the Captain of the Lynn 's frustrations that the mail steamers are passing Bahrein by and not allowing them to get their mail.
