Letter regarding the journey to and arrival at Aden prior to Euan-Smith and family's onward journey; the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. for Aden, John William Schneider, greeting them there and the news of Pelly's new appointment.
The letter also discusses the final report (from the Zanzibar anti-slavery mission) which Sir Bartle is completing; the Turks causing Schneider a great deal of anxiety in Aden and news of the death of the Nabib of Makaleh and that the Nabib's son has submitted the confirmation of his father's anti-slavery engagement.
The letter concludes by reporting when Smith expects to be in England, his correspondence address once there and a letter Sir Bartle Frere has received from Lord Northbrook.
