Content: A copy of a letter from Brigadier-General John Malcolm, Envoy of the Supreme Government of India to Persia [Iran], to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company, sent from a Royal camp near Tabreez [Tabrīz] and dated 15 July 1810. The letter covers: the appointment of Sir Gore Ouseley as Ambassador to Persia and Malcolm’s plans to leave the country; the King [Shah] of Persia [Fath-‘Ali Shāh Qājār]’s request that Malcolm remain and join a campaign in Georgia; the honours conferred on Malcolm by the King; and Malcolm’s reflections on his mission.
