Copy of a translation of a letter from the Shah of Persia [Iran], Fatteh Ali Shah [Fath-Ali Shah Qajar], to the Governor-General of India [Governor-General of the Presidency The name given to each of the three divisions of the territory of the East India Company, and later the British Raj, on the Indian subcontinent. of Fort William], Lord Minto. The letter contains effusions of friendship from the Shah, and congratulates Lord Minto on his recent victories, the Shah having been fully apprised of Lord Minto’s role as Governor-General by HM Ambassador Extraordinary to Persia, Sir Gore Ouseley.

The letter was enclosed in Ouseley’s dispatch No. 3 to Lord Minto of 2 February 1812 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/123).
