A translation of a letter from the French Ambassador at Constantinople [Istanbul] [Armand Charles Guilleminot] to the Kaim Makam [ Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. Abūl Qāsem Qāem Maqām Farāhānī, Vizier to the Crown Prince of Persia].

The letter concerns French merchants in Persia [Iran].

The translation was enclosed in the letter of Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company dated 18 October 1824 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/222).
