Copy of dispatch No. 1 from the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, at Bushire [Bushehr], to the Chief Secretary to the Supreme Government of India, George Swinton, of 12 April 1826. The letter announces Macdonald Kinneir’s arrival at Bushire and details the reception he has received from the Persian authorities and the Secretary to HM Mission to Persia, Major George Willock, and indicates that he intends to proceed to the Persian Court as soon as preparations to do so are complete. The letter also originally enclosed translations of letters addressed to Macdonald Kinneir from the Crown Prince of Persia ['Abbās Mīrzā Qājār], the Vizier to the Crown Prince of Persia, [Mirza Abu'l-Qasim Farahani, Qa'im Maqam], and the Prime Minister of Persia, Allah Yar Khan Assuff oo Dowleh [Allah Yar Khan Qajar Davallu, Asif al-Dawlah] (now catalogued as IOR/L/PS/9/70/93, ff 1r-3v).

This document was originally enclosed in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secretary at East India House, Joseph Dart, of 9 June 1826 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/91).
