Translation of a letter from the Governor-General of Georgia, General Peskowitch [General Ivan Fyodoroch Paskevich-Erivansky] to Major-General and Adjutant-General Fundenkerdoff [General Konstantin Khristoforovich Benkendorf], which was intercepted by Persian forces during the course of the war between Persia [Iran] and Russia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828]. In the letter Peskowitch discusses the supply of military provisions, indicating that Fundenkerdoff should move his positions closer to his magazines if he is unable to procure adequate provisions. Peskowitch also gives instructions for the procurement of more provisions and reports the dispatch of two resupply convoys that will be sent to Fundenkerdoff.
This document was originally enclosed, numbered 5 in dispatch No. 49, in the letter of the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company of 22 June 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/1).
