This bundle consists of summaries of official secret letters received from Bombay (presumably the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. ) (28 February 1857, Number 52; 1 March 1857, Numbers 53-54; 2 March 1857, Numbers 55-56; 3 March 1857, Number 57; and 5 March 1857, Numbers 58-62), and a list of letters received numbered 41-51, on the first folio.
The summaries of letters mostly concern the Persian Expedition. The bundle also includes a letter (5 March 1857, Number 60), relating to Perim [Mayyun].
