In reply to your Letter of the 17th instant, 1\ 4560, regarding the
new Bahrein Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. , I am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey
to request that you will inform the Marquess of Crewe that he concurs in the
terms of the telegram which His Lordship proposes to address to the Govern
ment of India on the subject.

I am directed by the Secretary of State for India to invite reference to
the correspondence ending with Sir Eyre Crowe’s letter of the 19th November
1913, No. 52,351, regarding the Bahrein Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. , 1913.
It will be remembered that the text of this Order was published in the
“London Gazette,” of the 15th August 1913, but that its republication in the
“ Gazette of India,” as required by Article 79 (1) of the Order, was postponed at
the desire of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, pending the completion
of negotiations then in progress with Turkey and other Powers interested in
the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .
I am to enquire whether, in the wholly different circumstances now
prevailing, there is any objection to the Bahrein Order being brought into
operation without further delay. If not, the Marquess of Crewe would propose
to authorise its publication in the “ Gazette of India ” at once, and to give such
further instructions as may be necessary to bring its provisions into force.

Older in Council, 19lo, 1 am directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grej’ to state
for the information of the Marquess of Crewe, that in the wholly differenl
circumstances now ^ prevailing there is, in his opinion, no objection to its
publication in the Gazette of India and to the issue of any further instructions
on the subject which may appear to Lord Crewe desirable.
