Anglo-Persian Oil Company.
A series of acts of oppression has
recently been committed by non-com
missioned officers and soldiers of the
Shustar srarrisor stationed in and around
the oilfields. The General Manager of
the Company reported these outrages
personally to the Prime Minister at
Abadan and secured a promise that the
chief delinquents would be publicly
flogged and cashiered.
ARABIA.
Movements.
Dr. (Miss) Hosmon left Muscat for
Sohar on the 11th to treat the son of
Saiyid Hamid, brother of His Highness
the Sultan of Muscat.
Dr. (Miss) F. M. Wakefield left Kuwait
on the 16th for Basra en route for Syria.
Miss G. Strang left Kuwait for Bombay
on the 17th.
Rev. Van Persuem, with his family,
arrived at Muscat on the 22nd from the
United States of America.
With the exception of Miss Wakefield
(see Summary for November), all the
above-mentioned persons belong to the
American Mission to Arabia.
His Highness the Sultan of Muscat,
with his son, Saiyid Said, returned to
Muscat from India on the 24th.

ill at Sharkiyeh and unable to return to

The health of the Arab ports has been
good.
MUSCAT.
Sur.
Reference Summary for September.
The Wali of Sur has arranged a two
months’ truce for the settlement of the
dispute between the Shaikhs of Jaalan
and the Uijriyin tribe.
NEJD.
Wahhabis.
Akhwan tribes, numbering about 2,000,
raided Iraq shepherd tribes near Umm
Rabal on the 26th. They captured a
large number of sheep and slew about
100 persons. Action by aeroplane was
taken against the raiders, in consequence
of which they were forced to abandon
some of their loot.
A second Akhwan raid on Iraq tribes
took place on the 29th, near Nukrat
Sulaiman. It was reported too late for
air action to be taken.
News from Jeddah indicates that the
Wahhabis are advancing on that town.
