NAS 1 R KHAN MASID OR MASJID—
A smaH praying phce on the road between Gazachah and Safia on the
Shah Ismail route between Nushki and the Helmand. It lies abo.u x
?f achah f ^ 7 fr ° m Safia ' lt is said that Nasir Khan of
Kalat halted here with his army when he went to aid Ahmad Shah Durani
against the Persians. The fact of Nasir Khan having taken this route
is valuable and interesting, and one would much like to know how he
contrived to supply his force of twenty thousand or thirty thousand men
and the numerous animals they must have had with them. Probablv the
men carried their own provisions, and the horsemen did not exceed a
few hundred. It is also probable a large proportion of the force was
mounted on camels, which can pretty well find their own subsistence in
the country. Still it was a great feat.

Is a fairly large fortified village, situated in a lovely glen and is one

description of the rice grown. There is a great deal of water which

said to have been grown at one time in this valley. There is a lar^e
